The Prophet expressed his love for Shahaadah by stating that he wishes he would be killed in the way of Allaah, then brought back to life, then killed, then brought back to life, then killed, then brought back to life, then killed.
And attaining Shahadah should be on everyone’s mind. And indeed we should expect the best from Allaah when doing du’a for Martyrdom. For we know that expecting the best from Allaah is from the characteristics of the pious predecessors.
‘Abdullaah Ibn Mas’ood said:
“By the One besides Who none has the right to be worshiped, the believer is not given anything good better than his good expectations of Allaah. And by the One besides Who none has the right to be worshiped, no servant of Allaah expects good of Him except that Allaah gives him what he expected, since all good is in His Hand.” [Husn Adh-Dhan Bi Allaah, p.96]
‘Ammaar Ibn Yoosaf said:
“I saw Hasan Ibn Saalih in a dream, and I said, ‘I was hoping to meet you. What can you inform us of?’ He replied, ‘I give you glad tidings that I see nothing better than to have good expectations of Allaah.’ ” [Husn Adh-Dhan Bi Allaah, p.45]
So earnestly cry to Allaah for Him to bestow this blessing upon you, while having that full conviction that He will answer your du’aa. Expect the best from Him, expect Him to grant you Shahaadah.
